Environmental Policy
Gordon Gould Ipson Architects recognise and embrace our somewhat unique ability and responsibility to positively influence environmental outcomes in the built and natural environments through our work.
Aside from the proven positive outcomes it produces, good environmental design is increasingly seen as a competitive tool by Clients and building owners to give them a competitive edge in their market.
Key design principles include:
Promotion of healthy buildings – buildings should be designed to support and enhance the health and well being of their occupants. Sustainable design principles such as passive cooling / ventilation, daylight harvesting and sun control measures as outlined in our ESD principals enforce this objective.
Provide Comfortable Buildings – buildings designed and operated to provide the highest levels of visual, acoustic and thermal comforts for its occupants.
Design for a changing place – provide spaces with flexibility, social support and technology to allow future change and innovation. The life of the building will be enhanced if future flexibility is implemented in the design.
Integrate Technology tools – Provide technology to aid building maintenance, future flexibility, and ESD measures. Technology should enhance the workability of the building and be able to be understood by the user.
Assure Reliable Systems and spaces – building users must be able to rely on building systems, equipment and tools to function as the design intended. Maintenance / running costs, functionality and performance of all building elements over the life of the building must be considered.
